WWE star John Cena made a much-awaited return to in-ring action on the last SmackDown of the year. The Champ teamed up with Kevin Owens to take on Bloodline members Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn.

After an exciting back-and-forth contest, Cena and Owens picked up the win over the heel duo. But there was action after SmackDown went off air, which saw the Usos attacking both Cena and the Prizefighter.

A few weeks ago, John Cena, who has transitioned away from WWE due to Hollywood commitments, announced his in-ring return.

Appearing in a video segment on the blue brand, he informed the Bloodline that he will partner with Owens for the tag team match on the 30 December episode of SmackDown.

And after he made a triumphant return this week, the Bloodline was none too pleased and took out their frustration on Cena after the match.

Usos attacked John Cena after SmackDown went off the air

John Cena wrestling in WWE is a rarity and a special occasion these days. So when WWE roped in Cena for the last episode of SmackDown of 2022, there was excitement among the fans.

Cena and Kevin Owens went toe-to-toe against Sami Zayn and the Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns. After a hotly contested bout, Owens planted a stunner on Zayn to win the match for his team. This match also preserved Cena’s streak of having wrestled every year in WWE since his debut in 2002.

This also meant that this was Reigns’ only second televised defeat of 2022. He got disqualified in his match against Seth Rollins at the Royal Rumble earlier this year.

Owens celebrated with The Franchise Player after the match as they handed The Bloodline a rare defeat. But there was more action to come after the show went off air. In a fan-captured video, the Usos can be seen running down to the ring and jumping KO and John Cena from behind.

This led to a beat down by the Undisputed tag team champions, with Zayn also joining in. In the video below, we can see that Usos attack Cena just as he had begun addressing the live crowd in Tampa.

After laying out the Doctor of Thuganomics, they went after Owens with Zayn getting his own revenge on KO for pinning him.

The Honorary Uce also mocks Cena’s ‘You Can’t See Me’ gesture before punching him down while the fans chanted for the 16-time world champion.

The Bloodline members were not pleased after this loss and wanted to reassert their dominance. After beating them up, Zayn and Usos pose in the ring but then had a surprise coming for them as the action didn’t stop there.

Brawling Brutes and McIntyre take out The Bloodline

Just as it looked that The Bloodline will have the last laugh, Drew McIntyre and Sheamus ran down to the ring. Sheamus struck with his trademark Brogue Kick while McIntyre hit a Claymore to send the tag team champions tumbling out of the ring.

This left Zayn surrounded by the Brawling Brutes, KO, Cena, and McIntyre. At first, it looked like the former Intercontinental champion would get a safe passage to escape. But Owens turned him around for a stunner, and then Cena hit him with an Attitude Adjustment.

John Cena finally got to address the live crowd. He said he intended to continue his wrestling streak this year and thanked everyone for their support over the last two decades.
