“We Do It Better Than Anyone”: John Cena Once Revealed Why He Puts WWE Over UFC

The MMA world has many promotions, but the UFC stands above them all. Through a combination of good marketing and talented individuals, the company has grown by leaps and bounds.
While there are many admirers of UFC, there are some with which the product does not quite connect. One of those people is the WWE legend, John Cena. The popular wrestler once admitted that the MMA promotion does not appeal to him.
The Doctor of Thuganomics is right up there when it comes to modern wrestling greats. His full-time career in the WWE lasted almost one and a half decades.

While the actor still wrestles but it has primarily become a yearly occasion. Cena sat down with Larry King in 2018 and discussed a host of topics. Among them, he was asked about his views on the UFC as well.
John Cena offered his views on UFC
The 16-time world champion said, “It’s done great to establish itself as a brand, but you know in comparison with us. It doesn’t quite resonate with me just because I’m a storyteller. I enjoy the story that we can tell in the ring. Like I said we do it better than anyone”.

Cena was then asked why the UFC was so popular and whether its violence attracts the audience. He replied, “No I don’t think so, I think it truly has marketed itself extremely well it has fantastic exposure and there’s no denying the athletic ability it takes to enter the octagon. It’s not something that I could do and I’m not taking anything away from anyone in the UFC because their success speaks for themselves. But as far as it resonating with me, it’s just not something I’m a fan”.

The Cenation leader was quite honest in his opinion about the MMA juggernaut. While it might not be for everyone, the promotion has definitely taken its rightful place in combat sports.

Cena was not lying when he talked about him being a storyteller as his Hollywood career speaks volumes. The wrestler-turned-actor was quite well-received as Peacemaker in the Suicide Squad. So much so that it earned a spinoff for the character which started streaming in 2022.
UFC and WWE have often crossed paths in the past. Most notable of the common performers has to be The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar. His success in the squared circle as well as the octagon is unlike anyone else.

There have been failed attempts at UFC also, after shining in the wrestling ring. Controversial figure CM Punk also embarked on an MMA journey which was cut short after only two matches.
After dazzling everyone with his talents in the ring, John Cena now impresses fans with his acting. Much like Dwayne ‘The Rock‘ Johnson has done, after switching careers.
