Was Bobby Lashley Really in the US Army Before WWE?

‘The All Mighty’ Bobby Lashley is one of the toughest WWE Superstars on the main roster. He is a former WWE Champion and his wrestling style and insane physique made him a dominant superstar. . But did you know he served in the US military before?

Bobby Lashley’s real name is Franklin Roberto Lashley. During his school days. Lashley had an interest in football, but during the off-season, he got introduced to freestyle wrestling. Later, he started practicing freestyle wrestling and competed in competitive events.

After graduating from High School, Lashley attended the Missouri Valley College, where he started participating in wrestling championships. Soon, Lashley became the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) National Wrestling Champion.

After graduating, Bobby Lashley joined the military force where he continued his wrestling passion, competing under the army’s World Class Athlete program. During his three years in the army, he won several medals in the International Military Sports Council senior freestyle wrestling event.

Lashley had a great military experience alongside pursuing his wrestling passion. However, things changed when Lashley ended up with a knee injury, ending his dream to represent Team USA for the 2004 Olympics.

Bobby Lashley joins WWE

In 2005, Bobby Lashley signed for WWE. Soon, Lashley headlined mid-card matches with his dominating wrestling style and moves.

Being a former National Champion, Lashley got enough attention in the WWE Universe. In his early days in WWE, he feuded with WWE legends like JBL, Kane, Big Show, and Finlay. Later, he won the United States Championship, winning his first WWE title. However, WWE released him in 2008.

Later, Lashley performed in the independent circuit and was soon called up by TNA and Impact Wrestling. During his Impact Wrestling run, he competed in some of the most epic matches, which got him good attention. Being a top wrestling athlete, he made a decisive impact in the wrestling world. This brought WWE to call up Lashley again in 2018.

The All Mighty becomes the WWE Champion

In 2020, Bobby Lashley became one of the top stars on the Raw roster. Further, he became part of Hurt Business, forming an alliance with MVP, Shelton Benjamin, and Cedric Alexander. He dominated the entire Raw roster with his dominance.

In 2021, Lashley got an opportunity for the WWE Championship against The Miz in a lumberjack match winning the title. This was Bobby Lashley’s first-ever WWE Championship reign. It took almost 15 years to land Bobby Lashley a WWE Championship in WWE, and his road to the top of the mountain wasn’t easy.

Although he lost the title in a couple of months to Big E, he secured a title match against ‘The Beast’ Brock Lesnar. At the Royal Rumble PPV, both men will go head to head to win the WWE title.
