The numbers prove that the song is wildly popular among the crowds, but what is so special about it? One of the reasons could be the context of the song which is extremely relatable to the journey of Cody Rhodes from WWE to AEW and how he bet on himself to become a bigger star It also takes many inputs from former WWE superstar Dusty Rhodes and his American Dream gimmick.
Lines such as “My father said hard times breed better men” are taken straight from his father’s promo, which resonates with the dream of every common American. Another line, “Now you bow to me… I am my Kingdom” indicates his struggle with the McMahon family. In fact, his theme song starts with the phrase “Wrestling has more than one Royal family” which is a direct banter on the McMahon family.
Cody Rhodes wanted to give his theme song a lot of personal touch, as evident from the lyrics. However, the vocals and the guitar add more value to the song. Lead singer Zack Call revealed how Rhodes gave him instructions to make the song.
