Brock Lesnar took on Cody Rhodes for their third match at WWE PLEs. With the scores tied at 1-1, Lesnar’s loss to Rhodes at SummerSlam on August 5, gave the win to ‘The American Nightmare’ and effectively closed the chapter. With no more feuds in sight, is ‘The Beast’ leaving the WWE?

There’s no doubt that Lesnar is slowly approaching retirement age. Given how physically demanding his matches are, it’s not that far away. But what about his immediate future in the Stamford-based promotion? Let’s have a look at the possibilities.

It’s still not over for Brock Lesnar in the WWE

Yes, despite being 46 years old, Lesnar still has gas left in the tank. Recent developments suggest he’ll continue to ply his trade in the WWE. Here’s why.

Even at his age, an age when most wrestlers tend to go easy or are relegated to the mid-card zone, Lesnar is still a top draw. He is in incredible physical shape, as seen during his match against Rhodes recently. But what plagues pro wrestlers of his age are tragic botches. These happen due to a lack of coordination. Lesnar, fortunately, has not been part of too many during his time.

The WWE also needs him to stick around to elevate some of the current superstars, who are looking for the right push. Rhodes benefited from his feud with ‘The Beast Incarnate’. Anyone stepping inside the ring with him will get the attention of the WWE Universe. And due to his tough guy status, beating him adds legitimacy to the opponent’s caliber.

John Cena is a great example of someone who reaped great rewards after sharing the ring with Lesnar. Cena defeated Lesnar most notably in an Extreme Rules match in 2012, establishing his name. The same was the case with Rhodes when he defeated ‘The Beast’. His claim for the WWE belt looks more legit than ever.

Another reason why Lesnar isn’t going anywhere was evident during Triple H’s post-event press conference. The WWE Head of Creative had words of praise for the former champion. Apart from calling Lesnar a unique athlete and human being, ‘The Game’ hailed the former UFC champion as “The greatest combat athlete of all time”. The fact that he remained jolly during the praise is proof that Lesnar is yet to pull the plug on his WWE career.

Furthermore, Lesnar has an unfinished business that he would want to wrap up before he bids the squared ring goodbye.

Brock Lesnar could restart his rivalry with an old foe

Lesnar is a unique athlete, as Triple H mentioned. Besides being physically dominant and great in stature, he’s deceptively quick, which makes him stand out among other pro wrestlers with a similar build. But he has company. Bobby Lashley, Lesnar’s old foe, possesses similar traits.

Lashley is also physically dominant like ‘The Conqueror’ and just as quick. They also have a heated rivalry, which currently stands tied at a 1-1 score. Though these two athletes have met one another inside the ring four times, they have been part of a singles bout only twice. Lashley drew first blood when he defeated Lesnar at the 2022 Royal Rumble, winning the WWE Championship for the second time.

‘The Almighty’ was on the receiving end almost a year later, as Lesnar avenged his earlier loss at Crown Jewel on November 5. While they were set to have their third singles match at WrestleMania 39, it didn’t happen as both stars featured in separate matches.

But before Lesnar locks horns with Lashley, he’s likely to take a break from the WWE. His current run has been an unusual one. Lesnar generally fights in a few matches annually that are separated by significant gaps. However, this year alone, he has been a part of three consecutive PLEs- WrestleMania 39, WWE Backlash, and WWE Night of Champions. While he didn’t feature in Money In The Bank, he fought at SummerSlam against Rhodes.

So, while a break is due, and he is likely to take it, Brock Lesnar isn’t leaving WWE just yet. What do you think? Do you agree with the points mentioned here? Let us know in the comments.
