‘The Beast Incarnate’ entered the Royal Rumble match (without his championship on the line) because he believed that there was no one on the roster worthy of challenging him at either the Royal Rumble or WrestleMania. He wanted to prove that he was the best in WWE. He not only entered the 30-men Rumble despite being a champion. But he also chose to be the #1 entrant of the bout.

Being number 1 in the Royal Rumble can be very challenging, as they have to take on opponents from the very beginning, thus physically exerting them more than the others. Despite this big disadvantage, he did it anyway because he had a point to prove. Furthermore, Lesnar entering the Royal Rumble was a well-devised plan on the part of WWE, as they also had an ulterior motive behind this decision.

WWE found a worthy opponent for Lesnar at Royal Rumble

During the time, WWE couldn’t find any worthy challenger to pitch against Lesnar. WrestleMania 36 was just a few months away and WWE was in a bit of a slump, with no opponent for the WWE Champion. ‘The Conqueror’ is a prominent name in WWE and the promotion couldn’t just put him against anyone without proper planning and an interesting storyline.

Therefore, to give themselves more time to devise an engaging storyline and intriguing match for WrestleMania 36, they added him to the Rumble match. This decision proved to be very fruitful as it also helped them to find a deserving challenger for ‘The Beast’ to face at Mania.

The worthy challenger was Drew McIntyre who not only eliminated the WWE Champion from the match but also emerged victorious from the Rumble to prove himself as the befitting candidate to face him for his championship at Mania. In addition, he even slayed ‘The Beast’ at WrestleMania.
