CM Punk has been inactive following an injury he received at the Royal Rumble when a DDT from Drew McIntyre caused him to fall on his arm and damage his triceps. The professional wrestler had to undergo surgery immediately, missing WrestleMania XL and delaying his long-awaited televised return to the company’s ring.

But what if he managed to return to WrestleMania? While we all know that he could not compete because of his injury, there is still a very important role he might play in the title picture. What role? Let’s find out.

Despite carrying his tricep injury, CM Punk is still present in WWE’s programming. The ‘Cult of Personality’ was part of the WrestleMania Kickoff in Las Vegas, as well as making a special off-air appearance on RAW just a couple of weeks ago. Punk will also join the company in Philadelphia as a special guest at the WWE World convention. With him being so active, what if Triple H offers him the role of being a guest referee in the Seth Rollins vs. Drew McIntyre match?

Since his absence from the ring, Drew McIntyre has been continuously taking shots at CM Punk. He has boasted about him being the reason Punk is out injured right now. Even tonight on RAW he took a shot at the former AEW star as he asked the crowd “Say ‘What’ if you’re glad I attacked CM Punk!”. WWE has announced that CM Punk will be on Monday Night RAW on March 25 in Chicago, his hometown. It’s unknown to date what his role in the show will be, but considering the proximity of WrestleMania 40, it will certainly be interesting.

Maybe the appearance of ‘The Best in the World’ on RAW has something to do with the Scotsman and the match he will have at WrestleMania 40 against Seth Rollins, a title match that was originally going to be for Punk. Maybe they may announce him as the guest referee. And that is certainly what the fans want.

Fans want Punk as a guest attraction

Ever since the Scottish Warrior has been taking shots at Punk, the fans have been speculating about what can be the motive behind it. While CM Punk surely has backstage heated, constantly mocking him when he’s off TV with no chance of returning for a match seems odd, to say the least. And that is when fans came up with the theory. ‘The Second City Saint’ could feature as a guest referee. A decision that surely has the backing of the fans. Here are some tweets supporting the decision:

One fan believes it would be the wildest thing to have Punk as the referee.

This fan, too, expressed his desire to see this come to fruition.

The idea sure is interesting. Fans love McIntyre being a heel, and what’s better than a babyface Punk ruining the heel’s chances of finishing his story? What do you think? Will it be a good decision to bring back Punk as guest referee at Mania? Let us know in the comments.
