While Hollywood is witnessing a SAG-AFTRA strike, the WWE Universe has received two boons in the form of John Cena and Dwayne Johnson. The strike prompted the two wrestlers-turned-actors to return to WWE. While fans were elated to have the icons back in WWE, it hasn’t been a good sign for Cody Rhodes.

Cena and Johnson’s comeback in the Stamford-based hasn’t stopped Rhodes’ momentum but definitely slowed it to a considerable pace. It looks like ‘The American Nightmare’ has returned the favor by setting foot into their territory now.

Recently Netflix Anime released the trailer for “Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix” on different social media platforms. In the trailer, fans noticed a similar character to that of Rhodes – blond hair and the ‘Dream’ tattoo on his chest. In the clip, you can see the anime version of him running to attack, but his head explodes.

Coming across the trailer on Twitter, the 2023 Royal Rumble winner reacted to his character’s head exploding. He wrote, “I went boom “. He also thanked Adi Shankar (Creator and Executive Director of the animated series) for making him a part of his upcoming project.

So far, it looks like that Shankar only used Rhodes for his series character, and chose someone else to voice the character. But still, even this little role is a big step that might pave the way for the WWE superstar into Hollywood, since Johnson and Cena have taken up his spotlight.

Is Cody Rhodes’s momentum decreasing?

Before Cena and Johnson returned to WWE, Rhodes was at the top of his game. With ending his chapter with Brock Lesnar, it was looking like he would be heading to WrestleMania 40 to finish his unfinished story. But now there is not one but two big pit stops on his road to WrestleMania.

First Cena came back and stole most of his spotlight in WWE. For weeks, everyone had only one person’s name on their lips and it was Cena. As the fans were just adjusting to Cena being back, WWE dropped another surprise bomb by bringing Johnson back.

As if it was not enough, Rhodes’ spotlight dimmed further as rumors of Johnson facing Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Universal Championship started spreading on social media, after The Rock said he could be available for WrestleMania 40 next year after missing out on the showpiece event this year.
