WWE has earned acclaim for carving out future international superstars. Right from Hulk Hogan to Dwayne Johnson to even Roman Reigns from the current era. All these stars have WWE to thank for their immense global popularity. But a wrong choice can lead to a downward slump in that star’s career. And that’s exactly what an ex-WWE champion thought when he saw Kofi Kingston.

According to him, Kingston could have achieved greatness as a solo act.

Factions are an essential part of pro wrestling. They become a stronger force while banding together as a group. Fans associate more with factions as they provide an avenue for increased showmanship and abilities like in the case of the NWO and D-Generation X in the past.

Currently, there are many factions in the WWE, but the top 2 are easily The Bloodline and The Judgment Day. Fans stop everything as soon as these factions make their way to the ring as they know something big is about to happen. But not long ago, there was another faction that was right on the top. And fans loved them a lot for their vibrant energy and exhilarating dance routines.

We are talking about the exuberant group, The New Day, composed of Big E, Kofi Kingston, and Xavier Woods. The group made their official debut on RAW in 2014. After that, they continued to entertain fans with their wild energy, on one occasion even getting Triple H and Stephanie McMahon to dance with them. But Big Show felt that Kofi Kingston had a brighter career as a solo star and should leave The New Day.

On his recent appearance on the podcast UNDRAFTED ALLSTARZ, Big E talked about that incident in detail. He said, “We had like Big Show pulling Kofi aside, ‘What are you doing with those two? You’re wasting your career’. He came back later and apologized because sometimes people don’t see the vision. They don’t see what you see?”

And most definitely The Big Show didn’t have solid ground to stand on as Kingston grew more in popularity with The New Day. He even went on to win the WWE Championship while being with the popular group. Not just him, but even Big E won the WWE Championship once, going to show that they were indeed a powerful faction in the WWE. Nevertheless, the group’s trajectory failed to go on the upswing as Big E opted out of the group and the sport. But what exactly happened to the former New Day member to leave the industry?

In March, The New Day feuded with the team of Sheamus and Ridge Holland. This led to a tag team match between the two groups. During the match, Holland gave Big E an overhead belly-to-belly suplex on the concrete floor.

This resulted in a broken neck and multiple fractures to Big E’s vertebrae. Although he didn’t require any surgery, doctors advised him never to wrestle again. But then in April, Big E put out a positive health update which made fans hopeful of his comeback to the WWE. But what do you think would have happened to The New Day if Kofi Kingston would have left the group?
