The world is moving towards the edge of the seat as we reach closer to the Australian Open 2021. To smoothen this waiting period, World No. 1 Novak Djokovic disclosed his quarantine life in Adelaide.

As the record 8-time winner of the Australian Open, the 33-year-old Serbian has a special connect down under. Although he claims that he has never had such a quarantine experience before, Novak has nothing more to ask.

“Well, it’s a unique experience,” Novak said. “I have never experienced something like this before but it’s great, I can’t complain.”

Since Djokovic arrived in Adelaide, the streets outside his hotel room have become a spot of constant entertainment. And the 17-time Grand Slam champion doesn’t mind joining in their fun.

From interaction with kids playing to watching Serbian dance, Novak has been a part of everything. Additionally, he even joined in a full-fledged dance show set outside his hotel room balcony.

Therefore, it leaves no doubt that the Serbian’s experience in quarantine has been one of its kind. But the country itself means a lot more to him.

“I am really pleased to be in Australia. I have had great welcoming here by people and had an amazing experience in Melbourne over the last 15 years. And also in Adelaide back in 2007.”

While the Serbian has won most of his major titles in Melbourne, he has memories there even outside of tennis. In a podcast, Novak revealed that he first took a car’s wheel in his hand somewhere outside Adelaide.

Djokovic eyes to retain ATP Cup and Australian Open title

Moving forward, the 6-time year-end World No. 1 will defend two titles in Melbourne Park this year. Firstly, he will lead Team Serbia in the ATP Cup 2021, then try for a hat-trick at the Australian Open.

Novak also has a great opportunity to break Roger Federer’s long withstanding record of most weeks spent as Number 1. Only the third member of the big three, Rafael Nadal, can stop Djokovic from breaking the record.

And even though it is improbable that Nadal stops him, the Serbian will not take any chances. He will play with his wit and aim to win his 18 Grand Slam. Novak definitely will have a group of fans chanting his name in a live match as well.
