Roger Federer, the 20 times Grand Slam champion, has always been a down-to-earth person. In fact, he and his game perfectly capture the essence of the phrase gentlemen’s game. Though the much lesser-known fact about him is that he also has good comic timing.

Federer loves playing along and adding his humor when the occasion presents itself. An incident that proves the above statement accurate happened during the 2018 Australian Open. The Swiss maestro had to match the level of the comedian Will Ferrell.

Roger Federer and Ferrell’s hilarious interaction

After Federer’s opening-round victory, Ferrell jumped on the court for a fun interview session with him alongside John McEnroe. “Roger, tonight you seemed like a gazelle out there on the court. Would you describe your game as like a silky gazelle?” He asked.

To which Federer replied, “Maybe? Maybe not. A gazelle, don’t they get eaten at the end?”

“Not if they’re fast enough.” Ferrell responded. Thereafter, the actor/comedian/producer questioned if the former World no.1 was a “witch or a vampire.” With that, he made Federer somewhat speechless before the veteran McEnroe came to his aid.

Further, Ferrell also confronted him about having a thing for wombat meat. “That is untrue,” Federer answered. “I have not (tasted it). Should I?” Speaking of his performance in the Grand Slam, he successfully defended the trophy against Marin Čilić that year.

Federer marks the end of his illustrious career

The eight times Wimbledon champion recently said goodbye to his marvelous 24-year-long career. After staying on the sidelines for almost a year because of a knee injury, he decided it was time to mark the end of his run. Federer signed up for the fifth edition of the Laver Cup and played alongside his fellow big four players.
