It has been two years since Klay Thompson last played an NBA game. To the DubNation, those two years felt like two decades. It was almost like when Michael Jordan announced his first retirement from basketball and Klay Thompson was well aware of that. Therefore, he chose the perfect reference to announce his much-awaited return to the starting lineup.
Klay Thompson took to Instagram to announce that he’s returning to the starting lineup tomorrow. He used a clip from Michael Jordan’s Space Jam in the post. The caption of the post read, “How I’m pulling up to Chase tomorrow, Bill Murray is my spirit animal. I’M SO EXCITED TO SEE Y’ALL DUB NATION. LET’S GET IT.”

The last time Klay Thompson played in the NBA
Considering it has been two years since he last played, a lot was different around the league the last time he played a game. The sensation around the NBA is like when Michael Jordan returned from his retirement to revive the hopes of all fans. Similarly now, Basketball feels beautiful again, and the NBA is excited to have him back. In a way, he used yet another Jordan reference to announce his return on Twitter.

Since it was the 2019 NBA Finals against Toronto Raptors where he injured himself, it is only befitting that the first observation is that Kawhi Leonard was still a Raptor when Klay last played. Moreover, James Harden was still in the Rockets. Kevin Durant was still in the Warriors. Anthony Davis hadn’t left the Pelicans to join LeBron James at the Lakers. Kyrie Irving was still in the Celtics and Russell Westbrook was still in Oklahoma City Thunder.
