It is a rare sight to see any two sporting legends stand side-by-side, in a jolly good mood, years after they dominated their respective careers. But when some meet-up like that does happen, people stop to take notice. That is exactly what the bodybuilding world recently did when these two bodybuilding legends, the only two people to win 7 Mr. Olympia titles, posed together for social media.

Phil Heath has shared a long post on his Instagram, detailing his experience and feelings on meeting one of his idols Arnold Schwarzenegger. Heath posted their picture together and added a vibrant and emphatic musical piece with it. The bodybuilding world was no less excited than Heath about their meet-up.

Phil Heath recently took to his Instagram and wrote, “Was able to catch a workout next to @schwarzenegger at the Mecca, Gold’s Gym Venice this morning and needless to say I was excited”. The Gold’s Gym in California is where most greats like Schwarzenegger, Franco Columbo, Lou Ferrigno, etc, started their bodybuilding journey. Heath mentions that Schwarzenegger, at age 75, still works out there daily.

Both Heath and Schwarzenegger shared a training session together in the gym, where they talked in between sets. They discussed bodybuilding but also shared nuggets about their lives with one another. Heath was particularly excited about their chat. He continued, “To receive instruction from this man is something I am forever grateful for, and will definitely use those nuggets of wisdom to stack some more wins in my life”.

Heath was also considerate enough in his post to talk about Schwarzenegger’s new three-part documentary series, each pertaining to a different phase in the Terminator star’s life. One that started off his rise in bodybuilding, his first true love. 2nd would be his movie career which made him an action superstar. And 3rd would be his political career i.e. becoming the governor of California. Although Heath once stated his superiority to other bodybuilding greats like Ronnie Coleman, Lee Haney, as well as Arnold Schwarzenegger, he vouched for Schwarzenegger’s greatness in each of his career-cum-life phases. Having seen this post, other bodybuilding greats couldn’t help but chime in with the comments.

“The GOAT we all love and highly respect. The greatest ambassador a sport can ever ask for and a great man to add along with his positive attitude towards health and fitness” wrote another bodybuilding great Ronnie Coleman. Coleman and Lee Haney are the only two bodybuilders to win more Mr. Olympias than them i.e. 8 Olympias. And he too couldn’t help but hail their contribution to the world of bodybuilding.

“7x!!!”: Jay Cutler, who himself won Mr. Olympia 4 times. He was quick to point out their legacy with 7 Olympia titles each.

“7×2 Greatness”: Hany Rambod too hailed the two bodybuilders for the multitude of Olympias they won and the legacy they left behind.

“He still looks pretty big here”: Nick Miller from Nick’s Strength and Power commented this about, most obviously Arnold Schwarzenegger. While Heath was in his t-shirt and shorts, looking large as ever, Schwarzenegger looked no less even at age 75.

“Very cool!”: Pat McNamara wrote this appreciating the two bodybuilding legends still sweating it out in the gym and giving sweltering looks.

As far as wins are concerned, Phil Heath last won 3rd place in the Olympia stage as lately as 2020. This was after his 2nd place finish in 2018. But his greatest streak was from 2011-2017 when he won the title 7 times consecutively. Schwarzenegger too won 7 Mr. Olympias, 6 of which were consecutive from 1970-1975. He then returned back to the Olympia stage one final time in 1980 to win his 7th title. Their meet-up was coincidental in more than one way.
