“Both”: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Provides Major Update on Moana’s 2024 Format Amid Ongoing Fan Rumors

2024 looks to be one of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson‘s biggest years. With a return and heel turn in the WWE, he started the year off with a bang. Setting a match with his cousin Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins boosted the attention and hype for WrestleMania XL. However, his work in Hollywood isn’t done for the year, as he announced his upcoming project Moana.

Moana, the animated film released in 2016, was a box-office smash hit, earning over $600 million. Johnson, who voices the character Maui in the film series, provided an update on the future of the franchise.

Posting on Instagram, Johnson said, “Love seeing this positive impact for our world of pro wrestling.” Along with it was a headline by Mike Roe that stated that with Johnson’s return to the WWE, the rating was up. Taking credit for it, Johnson stated that WrestleMania would just be the beginning. This hints at his future program involvement as WWE joins with Netflix. The Hollywood star did thank the members of both WWE and TKO. However, someone had a non-WWE-related question.

The first comment on the post, which had over 300 likes, asked Johnson about the Moana film set to be in the works this year. Johnson replied, “both! 😉Moana 🌊 animated sequel comes out this holiday season and we’ll film live action Moana this year.” The Rock has already announced that he will be reprising his role as Maui in the live-action and also in the animated sequel. Johnson has been using the most iconic song from the movie as a catchphrase in his Final Boss gimmick. While cutting his promo on Mama Rhodes, Johnson said, “What can I say except you’re welcome.”

However, the Moana movies won’t be the only one Johnson will work on this year. He will be filming The Smashing Machine based on the life of fighter Mark Kerr, and filming is set to start post-Mania till SummerSlam. Fans have speculated that Johnson may return after filming to continue his possible feud with Reigns for the Head of the Table position in The Bloodline. What did you think about the update on Moana?
