Floyd Mayweather benefitted from his former rival Conor McGregor once again, but it wasn’t really a healthy affair for McGregor. The Irishman, suffering his second consecutive loss against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, departed with the sixth scratchy defeat of his pro MMA career.
Meanwhile, McGregor was already the underdog to many people, even before the fight had begun. Following a KO loss at UFC 257, several fans had picked Poirier to win the third meeting. Hence, Floyd Mayweather had also placed his bet on ‘The Diamond’, which eventually turned out to be correct.

After the fight, Mayweather posted a picture on social media to reveal how he made money from the event and thanked Dustin Poirier. Per Floyd Mayweather’s post, he earned $35,000 from the fight. Although ‘TBE’ had nothing to do with the lucrative event, he still found ways to fill his pockets.
Meanwhile, Conor McGregor had mocked Floyd Mayweather a couple of days back for his performance against Logan Paul. Hence, the recent outcome of UFC 264 could have been favorable for Floyd Mayweather. Apart from money, the result could have possibly been sweet revenge for ‘TBE’.

But Poirier, the American native, might have infused the sense of nationalism in Floyd Mayweather. As the 44-year-old is often spotted backing his own people, he could have subconsciously favored ‘The Diamond’ to win.

Nevertheless, Poirier’s sensational run in the 155 lbs division has had earned him several believers too. Hence, Mayweather might not have hesitated to pick up Poirier, especially after his win at UFC 257. Besides, it worked well for both the Americans.
