Boxing Updates: Terence Crawford to Face Tim Tszyu vs. Sebastian Fundora Winner; Tentative Timeline Revealed
Follow Us
30th March is the date when Tim Tszyu and Sebastian Fundora battle it out to reach the top. What’s the top? It’s Terence Crawford. The pound-for-pound king has not fought since defeating Errol Spence Jr in July 2023. Tim Tszyu was originally set to face Keith Thurman, who himself was coming off a long layoff, since defeating Mario Barrios in 2022.
But due to a training injury, Thurman had to pull out of the fight, just 2 weeks before. Stephen Fundora stepped up for the fight, leaving his original opponent, Serhii Bohachuk, potentially facing another opponent in Brian Mendoza. Due to that, Fundora or Tszyu in this destined matchup might get a chance to take a shot at boxing royalty. But when will such a match-up materialize?
Will the winner be ready to face Terence Crawford so soon?

Terence Crawford has been struggling to make a fight since last year. He has called out Canelo Alvarez, and almost had his rematch with Errol Spence Jr. But nothing materialized. WBO President Paco Valcarcel comes as a knight in shining armor for Terence Crawford. ESPN’s Mike Coppinger was the bearer of this news and his tweet read, “WBO president Paco Valcarcel said the winner of Tim Tszyu-Sebastian Fundora must start negotiations with the mandatory challenger five days after the fight. That’s pound-for-pound king Terence Crawford, who was able to position himself into that spot as WBO super champ at 147. If Tszyu wins as expected, big-time fight with Crawford could be on deck this summer.”

Terence Crawford stands very strong at 40-0 and has all the experience he needs. He has faced the likes of Amir Khan, Shawn Porter, Errol Spence, and many other great boxers. But only one thing was common: Crawford’s unquestionable victory. Terence has been relaxing since his last win, but there’s no doubt he has been working silently.
Engaging with a titan like Crawford is more than a contest; it’s a litmus test for Tszyu’s legacy. A victory would catapult him into an elite circle, not exactly a circle as he would’ve been the only one to defeat Terence Crawford.
