French heavyweight, Carlos Takam, has shared his hit list of opponents he would like to face in 2021. The 40-year-old has added all the big names to his list, including Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz Jr. He even explained why he wants to fight them.

Takam has been a heavyweight challenger for the longest time. He has previously challenged for the unified heavyweight championship when he took on Anthony Joshua. However, the Cameroon born Frenchman never got his hands on the prize.

He has now switched his focus to making big fights. Speaking to Pro Boxing fans on YouTube, Takam shared his hit list. He started with Oscar Rivas, then included the likes of Oleksandr Usyk, ‘Destroyer’, ‘The Bronze Bomber’, and even Tyson Fury.

However, when talking about the realistic fights such as Ruiz Jr and Wilder, Takam said, “If they call me tomorrow and say, yes, Andy Ruiz and Deontay Wilder want to fight you, you think I’m going to say no? I’m going to say welcome.”

Thus, Takam is serious about his desire to fight the best in the division. However, his record against the top fighters in the division is abysmal. So why is the Cameroon born Frenchman so eager for the big fights?

For Takam it’s not about the money. Instead, he explained his decision. “That kind of fight, I want it. To prove to people that Carlos Takam is still there. I’m here.”

This is understandable from his perspective, as his record has meant that he has been criminally underrated in the sport. However, the fact that he was a serious contender for Tyson Fury’s return shows how much the fighters rate him.

At present, Takam does not feature in any of the rankings in the division. Moreover, at 40, he is nearing the end of his fighting days. Therefore, if he can get the big fight and somehow cause an upset, it might put him in line with a title.
