There is a sense of camaraderie that boxers establish amongst themselves. It stems from the fact that the journey of growth they experience in the ring is very similar to one another. This is why when there is a defeat a boxer incurs, he is not left alone. In the wake of his maiden loss, Stephen Fulton received that support from a fellow boxer- Errol Spence Jr.

Earlier this week, his Japanese opponent Naoya Inoue gave Stephen a devastating loss. This of course would not have been easy on Fulton. However, Errol Spence Jr made sure he was there to boost his morale.

‘Proud of ya’: Errol Spence attempts to cheer up the former champion

Taking to his Instagram stories, ‘The Truth’ expressed his solidarity and respect for Fulton taking on the challenge to fight ‘The Monster’ Inoue. This was the first time the American boxer entered the ring after a year-long sabbatical.

“Proud of ya taking on the challenge,” Errol said.

“Something 99% never experienced. Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go,” he added.

The comment comes as the boxer prepares for his big fight against Terence Crawford at the end of this month.

Japenese sensation Inoue emerged as a four-weight world champion in Tokyo as he won his maiden fight in the super bantamweight division.

Fulton as a result has lost all of his belt and will have to rebuild the legacy he once created.

Fulton did not have it easy

In an interview with RingTv, Fulton revealed that the one year outside of the ring was not the easiest to get through. But he also elaborated on how difficult his early years in boxing were.

He spoke candidly about the time when he thought of dealing drugs to make some bucks. Fulton said, “I remember I called the guy to make some money, going to him and sitting in his van. He told me he wouldn’t feel right because he knew I boxed, and he didn’t want to mess around with my future.”

Nevertheless, as things stand, can Stephen Fulton reclaim the titles he lost to Inoue? More importantly, will Inoue give him a rematch, or will the Japanese be looking to fight Marlon Tapales for the undisputed title?
