Gervonta Davis Gives Final Verdict on Mayweather Promotions

On May 29, inside Barclays Center, Brooklyn, Gervonta Davis fought and won against then unbeaten challenger Rolando Romero. Following a TKO towards the end of the sixth round, Davis successfully defended his WBA lightweight title.
The contest was back and forth, and both the fighters demonstrated excellent boxing skills. For a few months, there was a discussion about Davis leaving Mayweather promotions and being on his own right after the ‘Rolly’ fight. Well, now that the event is over, Tank clears the sky and delivers a surprising statement.

For the last few weeks, fans scratched their heads, wondering where Davis would next be, post the expiry of his contract with Mayweather Promotions. During interviews, Davis several times expressed his desire to leave and start a new journey on his own.

In fact, the star even took to Instagram and explained his frustration with Mayweather promoting his own comeback at a time when Tank was gearing up to fight Rolly. So, now that the bout is over, does he stand by his words?
So, where does Gervonta Davis see himself post his win against Rolly?
Gervonta Davis signed with Mayweather Promotions in the year 2015. After that, he had more than a dozen of professional fights under the guidance of ‘Money.’ With Mayweather, in 2017, Tank beat Jose Pedraza and became America’s youngest reigning boxing champion at that time. Therefore, when he announced to leave Mayweather, it was quite a shock for all the fans of Davis and boxing.

Well, that is indeed good news for fans who did not want to see the Mayweather and Tank duo break up. Davis now has twenty-seven victories and twenty-five of them are via knockouts. He is only twenty-seven and therefore there is a lot he promises to offer. Fans will have to just stay back and watch with patience.
