Gervonta Davis, who pled guilty after a hit-and-run incident in November 2020, leaving four people including a pregnant woman hospitalized, has avoided jail time but has been sentenced to house arrest. It has only been two weeks since Davis handed Ryan Garcia his first pro defeat in one of the most anticipated fights of 2023, and now the boxer from Baltimore is facing house arrest and probation.
Reportedly, the 28-year-old drove a 2020 Lamborghini Urus SUV on the 5th of November 2020 and collided with a 2004 Toyota Solara. Following the collision, Davis’s car crashed into a fence. As per reports, although the injured pregnant woman “begged for help,” Davis avoided her and “got his things and left“. Although there are still remaining charges, for the time being, Davis, who could have faced jail time, leaves with only a house arrest and three years of probation.
Given his sentence, when can Gervonta Davis potentially fight again?

In 2020, Davis drove on a revoked license and ran a red light. After the accident, he left the scene with others physically harmed, and an owner unnotified of property damage. The current WBA lightweight title holder has now been sentenced to 90 days of house arrest followed by three years of probation. Hence, for the next three months, Gervonta Davis will surely have to stay away from boxing. As per The Guardian, initially, Gervonta Davis’s counsel opted for “60 days of unsupervised home confinement”. However, circuit judge Melissa M Phinn rejected the deal after the injured woman in question objected.

The following is what the pregnant woman, Jyair Smith had said – “I begged Mr. Gervonta Davis, I looked him in his eyes. I said, ‘I have to get home to my daughter, I’m pregnant.’ He never once came over to help me. He got his things and left.” Anyway, given his sentence, Davis will now surely stay outside the ring for three months.
