Gervonta Davis dominated the fight against Ryan Garcia in almost every round, and finally secured the win in the seventh round by a Knockout. The fight was one of the biggest in recent years, as many boxing fans were looking forward to watching two of the top lightweights throw it down. As both fighters, Davis and Garcia had a perfect record with zero losses, it was even more interesting as the stakes were high, and both fighters gave it their all. It was a big fight for Davis, as the platform was very large and everybody knew that the winner of this bout would definitely become ‘the face of boxing’.
But Oscar De La Hoya made a bold statement that didn’t reside well with ‘Tank’. ‘The Golden Boy’ is Garcia’s promoter and the head of the ‘Golden Boy Promotions’. Oscar stated things that were in favor of Garcia while dismissing ‘Tank’s’ ability to sell fights. In response, Davis replied to De La Hoya’s remarks by posting one picture.

Gervonta Davis responds to Oscar De La Hoya’s remarks
Recently, Garcia’s promoter came forward on Twitter and told the fans that whether they agree with it or not, ‘KingRy’ is ‘the new face of the PPV’. Well, the biggest testimony of this claim is, according to De La Hoya, Davis in his previous fights couldn’t accumulate more than $200k pay-per-view buys, while his recent fight against Garcia was successful in generating more than a million.
@RyanGarcia is the new face of PPV like it or not. @Gervontaa only did 200k PPV a few times without Ryan, With Ryan fight generates 1 million plus PPV. 🤷🏻♂️

‘Tank’ saw this tweet and it was obvious he did not like it. So as a retweet, he shared a picture of Ryan Garcia on the canvas after getting dropped in the second round. ‘Tank’ is seen standing tall and looking down at him. This was to tell De La Hoya, that at the end of the day, he’s the one who won.

Besides, recently, Floyd Mayweather Jr. also slammed De La Hoya for not showing up for Garcia at the Post-Fight Press Conference. Additionally, just a few hours ago, De La Hoya also shed some light on a Davis vs Garcia rematch.
Oscar De La Hoya’s thoughts on Davis vs. Garcia rematch
Oscar De La Hoya stated that they won’t be rushing for the rematch just yet. As it would be better if both fighters took their time and grabbed a few more wins here and there. He told Davis that he should fight more World Champions right now and once he’s ready to move up in weight, they can always think about the rematch.

Garcia would possibly be looking to focus on other fights right now to gain some momentum and get back on track, given that he just suffered his professional defeat. What are your thoughts about Garcia being ‘the face of PPV’? Do you agree? Let us know in the comments section.
