In the world of boxing, trash-talking and feuds are nothing new, but a recent exchange on Twitter between two prominent figures in the sport has caused controversy. Ryan Garcia‘s father questioned whether Shakur Stevenson deserved a shot at the winner of the upcoming Devin Haney vs. Vasyl Lomachenko fight. BoxingScene shared the news of his words on Twitter. Claressa Shields, who is famous for her candidness and tenacity, blasted him on Twitter. Her response sparked a debate on Twitter amongst fans.

As a two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-weight world champion, Shields expressed her disagreement with Garcia’s father’s remarks. She stated that he “clearly has no boxing intelligence to say that”. This has fueled the ongoing discussion about Stevenson’s rightful place as a mandatory challenger.

However, Claressa‘s statement on Twitter caused a lot of discussion among the fans. They presented differing opinions on whether he deserves the chance to face the champion. This news was reported by Essentially Sports recently, after which the manager of Claressa Shields shared the article on his Twitter. This prompted Shields to respond and clarify her previous remarks on Garcia’s dad.

At the beginning of his Tweet, he defended Claressa’s outspoken nature. Mark Taffet wrote, “Yes ⁦@Claressashields is outspoken…but she’s earned the right to be!”. Furthermore, he claimed that she has earned the right to speak out her opinions. This is true considering the sheer number of amazing achievements she has managed to achieve throughout her career. Moreover, he claimed that her ring IQ is very high. This too can be seen by her being the Undisputed Women’s Middleweight Champion.
