Errol Spence Jr. will enter into the most anticipated bout against Terence Crawford on the 29th of July. The historical matchup will see the unification of all four titles in the Welterweight division. It is one of those fights where nobody can certainly predict the winner, given both fighters bring their pound-for-pound acumen to the ring. A fight for the tales, and the legends, it is all set to break records of viewership and whatnot.

It has taken a while for the fight to finally take its course. With multiple negotiations that took forever, this bout holds the potential to give us the name of the best fighter on the planet, and rightly so. When was the last time the boxing space witnessed such a hung fight? However, folks have begun siding with the respective camps, and it is quite an elaborate support system that Errol ‘The Truth’ Spence Jr. has by his side.

Mike Tyson will stand in Errol Spence Jr.’s corner

Ahead of his career-defining fight against ‘Bud’ Crawford, The Truth sat in a rather candid conversation with ex-Heavyweight champion, Mike Tyson. The conversation that ensued on his popular video podcast, Hotboxin’ With Mike covered a versatile range of topics, but the major crux was the upcoming fight. Early in the conversation, ‘Iron Mike’ Tyson made it evident that he is in fact siding with Spence and is certain that he will take home the historic victory.

Errol revealed a lot of folks have claimed that ever since his tragic accident in 2019, there are very few chances of him excelling in the ring. But the fighter took such comments in his stride to only find motivation in them. Mike further added that if Spence could survive the accident and come back stronger, Terence Crawford holds no ground in possibly defeating him. He said, “Within those two car accidents, that didn’t kill him, how could fuckin bud kill him?”

The two then spoke about the various accidents the Welterweight champion has suffered in the last few years. Mike said, You went flying. Nig*a, what kind of are you getting into an accident? Why are you… are you by yourself too?”  Mike further insinuated that Errol seemingly has a problem. The fighter has previously been in three deadly accidents that have left a profound impact on him

Post three accidents, ‘The Truth’ is still stronger than ever

In the wake of his splendid victory against Shawn Porter in October 2019, the boxer was caught in a devasting car accident that left him physically hurt and mentally disturbed for a while. As he drove his Ferrari 488 Spider at sterling speeds on the streets of Dallas, he was thrown out of the car, as it went flipping multiple times. He was alone in the automobile at the time.

Later he also revealed that he was involved in another car accident just three months post this devastating crash. He was dropped by his insurance company after a car crashed into his G-Wagon. In December 2022, he was found in yet another accident. And this time, a teenager had crashed into his car. However, while the cars were incredibly damaged, both folks walked out of the site without any injuries.

Despite suffering from PTSD from his 2019 accident, and sustaining the following two car crashes, Errol Spence Jr. has managed to rise against all odds. The man holds three titles in the Welterweight division and is all set to grab his fourth, the only one left in the weight class. This is the spirit of resilience and courage. Will he be able to take the title home to become the ultimate unified champion in the Welterweight division?
