Jake Paul is itching to get back in the ring in 2024. After a successful 2023 that saw him bounce back from a defeat to Tommy Fury, “The Problem Child” sets his sights on Ryan Bourland this weekend. Bourland, a seasoned fighter with a deceiving journeyman label, presents a different challenge than Paul’s recent opponents. This eight-round bout is a chance for Paul to prove his commitment to the sport.
Bourland may seem like a weak opponent, but he’s not. Although he hasn’t fought since September 2022, he notably ended that fight in five rounds via TKO against Santario Martin. Interestingly, according to Jake Paul, this fight also pushes him a step ahead of renowned boxers like Canelo Alvarez, Gervonta Davis, and Terence Crawford.

In an Instagram Story, Jake Paul started off by presenting interesting statistics about the top three of modern boxing. He posted a screenshot of an article that mentioned how Alvarez’s 10th opponent, Javier Martinez, was someone who was making his boxing debut, while Davis entered the ring for the tenth time against Israel Suarez, a fighter who, at the time, had a 4-4-2 record. While Crawford dominated Corey Sommerville, who had only one win in four of his fights. So, underneath the screenshot, Paul pointed out what’s the difference between these three and him. He stated that his opponent was better than all of the above-mentioned fighters. Paul stated, “My opponent is 17-2 3 time golden glove champion.”

December 15th, 2023. Jake Paul silenced the doubters. A dominant first-round knockout against Andre August cemented his position as a rising force in the boxing world. But in the post-fight press conference, Paul wasted no time looking ahead. His message was clear: this win wasn’t just a victory, it was a stepping stone. Critics may have questioned his choice of opponent, but Paul shut them down with a thunderous KO.
Now, with his sights firmly set on a world championship title, the boxing world waits with bated breath. In the post-press conference of his previous bout, he had declared, “What’s going on?
