“Yeah, he’s good. I like him. He likes to lead the training sessions sometimes and he’s like ‘hey Joe, I have a present for you’, and I’m like ‘what’s it this time’ and he’s got some kettlebells and said ‘we’re doing these’.
“But classic, he took a shot, there’s like a basketball net up and he was sitting down and from far away he threw it and it went straight in the hoop.
“Pretty impressive, watching him spar like his sparring partners had to have like body armor! Lethal!” said Joe Joyce. When asked if he has ever sparred with Gennady Golovkin, Joyce replied, “No, it would not be fair, for me.”
Joe Joyce vs Carlos Takam: Fight preview
Coming into this fight, 40-year-old Carlos Takam (39-5-1) is the more experienced fighter. Takam even challenged heavyweight Anthony Joshua for the unified WBO, IBO, and IBF world titles in 2017 but lost via a Round 10 TKO stoppage.
On the other hand, Joe Joyce (12-0-0) has lesser experience but has no losses in his record. Even though he was the underdog going into his last fight in 2020 against Daniel ‘Dynamite’ Dubois, Joyce secured a knockout win over him.

The British heavyweight sees Takam as a tougher opponent than Dubois; he believes Takam has good movement, can take shots, and packs a punch.
“He’s got good head movement, experience. It’s going to be a different kind of fight than Dubois, a tougher fight. He’s got a good chin and he can bang,” said Joe Joyce.
