Leonard Ellerbe Warns Fighters About Losing: Remember, “There’s Only One Floyd Mayweather”

The chariot of a highly anticipated fight between five-time, three-weight division world champion Gervonta Davis and the star power puncher Ryan Garcia finally reached the hometown of the latter to host the second press conference at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. Where the arch-rivals in attendance of several big names and boxing fans announced their grudge match, which is set to take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, April 22.

Since the stakes of the fight are very high, so are the speculations. Both fighters are undefeated, highly skilled, in their prime years, and phenomenal trash talkers. This is making the upcoming showdown a historic one as it is catching a bigger audience and creating intense hype. Looking at the atmosphere, boxing pundits have started comparing this fight to several mega-events from the past. Garcia himself dubbed it the blockbuster between Muhammad Ali and Sunny Liston that took place decades back and became a rage over the globe.

There is no doubt, the winner of this showdown would get all perks in the world. He will emerge as a star face in the sport, but what about one who loses it? Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe has an answer to this query, and he explained it with a reason.

In a brief interview with FightHype.com, Ellerbe explained what would be the aftermath of this mega-event because this question is very chaotic. Sometimes fighters lose the fight, and they lose everything.

And sometimes, despite losing the fight, fighters emerge as stars. However, Ellerbe explained it by mingling it with Floyd Mayweather‘s career record.

“A loss is a loss. It happens in the sport. You know everybody can’t go undefeated. You know there’s only one Floyd Mayweather. There’s only one you know. It’s like losing is part of the sport, but I give both guys the credit for taking the risk. A lot of times you see a lot of these fighters. They talk about a lot of stuff but Ryan and Tank are actually getting in there and fighting in the biggest fights. In all the boxing, “ he said.
