Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis concluded with ‘Tank’ coming forth victorious after a splendid KO in the seventh round. Before the fight, both boxers weren’t great friends, as there was a lot of heat between the two. But in the Post-Fight Press Conference, they kept their differences aside and showed respect towards each other. Davis and Garcia even shared their phone numbers with each other, during the conference. This gesture became quite famous as many considered this instance to be the prime example of sportsmanship. But a lot of people pointed out that Garcia was alone at the post-fight press conference.

He wasn’t joined by his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya and even Bernard Hopkins wasn’t there for him. This made Floyd Mayweather Jr. comment on it, as he spoke about the ‘Golden Boy’s’ absence.

The interview of Floyd Mayweather has been uploaded on YouTube by Fight Hub TV, where he speaks against De La Hoya’s absence, and how he’d have always been there for Gervonta Davis. Mayweather stated that despite the fight results, he’d have stood in support of Davis. And he’d never leave his fighter alone as Oscar did.

Mayweather said, “If Tank was to win or take a loss, I would’ve stood behind him 100%. If I’m with you, I’m with you through the good, bad, and ugly. Loyalty is a lifestyle, not an action.”

Now, there have been many reasons for De La Hoya’s absence. But after a lot of such backlash, De La Hoya had to come forward and talk about the real reason why he couldn’t attend the Davis vs. Garcia post-fight press conference. As even the Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe blasted Oscar De La Hoya for ‘ditching’ Ryan Garcia.
