David Benavidez has secured victory over Canelo Alvarez‘s previous opponent, Caleb Plant, by a unanimous decision and now he wants to challenge the pound-for-pound king next. Benavidez is looking to prove himself as the current best Mexican boxer, and the only way he thinks he can achieve that is by facing Alvarez inside the ring and beating him down. But in the recent episode of Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, alongside  guest Ryan Garcia, Mike Tyson sent out a heartful warning to ‘The Mexican Monster’ and charted out a better way to prove himself instead of chasing the Canelo Alvarez fight.

So after the fight, Benavidez even called out Alvarez and stated that he cannot run from him forever as he will make every possible move to get a boxing fight against the ‘Cinnamon’.

But Canelo Alvarez is looking to get his rematch against Dmitry Bivol after his fight against John Ryder is over. So he doesn’t have Benavidez as his utmost priority right now. So it’ll definitely be interesting to see how the differences between Benavidez and Alvarez will end.

Tyson advised Benavidez to move on from Alvarez, take up other fights in the division, and be consistent in his fights. He said, “You know what they do to guys like Benavidez, they wait till they get to the, leaves his prime, and he is not in his prime no more, then they fight with these guys. That’s why I’m trynna tell him, to get these guys all now. Fight two or three guys in one year, you know what I mean.

Then he also revealed how nobody wants to face a fighter like ‘The Mexican Monster’. So they keep on stalling fighters like him and then after some time when they haven’t had a fight in ages, challenge them to get inside the ring. Now the co-host of the show, Sebastian Joseph-Day, asked whether it is because of the issue of physical health thing that the fighters choose not to fight frequently. So Tyson disregarded that logic immediately.

Tyson wants him to take on fights with other fighters and not just stick to Canelo Alvarez. And he even stated that it would not be hazardous to take a couple more fights this year, as he had done the same in his times, and he’s completely fine.

He said, “No way, I fought 15 times in one year.” Although he stated that most of them ended up in KOs in the first couple of rounds, out of 15, there may be 2 fights where he went the distance that did not stop him from being consistent.
