Former middleweight champion and daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, Laila Ali has been very vocal when it comes to social injustices. SheBeeStinging has spoken about various issues plaguing out society including human trafficking, gender inequality, and social disparity among others. Moreover, she even helps propagate people speaking up on these issues.
Therefore it was not surprising when she shared a video of an influencer trying to find the real meaning of womanhood. The video discussed how men and women were intrinsically different from each other. However, women have been taught by society that to become powerful they must be more like a man and let go of their feminine qualities.

An Influencer discusses the harsh reality of modern women
An influencer by the name of Erica LeShai posted the video on her Instagram channel. In it, she stated that she did not have to prove that she was stronger than any man to succeed. However, she claimed that there were some things that men can do that women cannot and vice versa. In addition, according to her, this leads to women leaving their femininity on the table and giving away power. She concluded by stating that both men and women have intrinsic differences that made them special in their own right.

This was not all as the video seemed to have struck a nerve with the former champion who also shared the video on her social media. She also had some words for the modern women for whom this video was made.
Laila Ali gives modern women a harsh reality check
In her story, Ali praised the influencer for her views on modern society. Moreover, she stated that people like LeShai give her hope for the women of the future. She also added that modern women were confused about their identity and were caught in a cycle of defining themselves.

“Young ladies like erica give me hope for the mindset of women in the future. Women are so confused about what ‘power’ is these days” Ali wrote.

The former champion had to go through a lot of physical as well as mental abuse as a child which is well documented in her book Reach. However, this made her a strong person who went on to become an undefeated world champion. The aim for her now is to create more strong women who can overcome hardships and succeed in life.
