Mike Tyson has hosted a variety of different celebrities on his podcast Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson. Of late, renowned TV personality Stephen A. Smith appeared on an episode of the podcast as a guest. During the podcast they talked about a lot of different topics, he even scared Smith with his revelation about mountain lions in Los Angeles, which prompted Smith to remark that he intends to never go back to Rodeo.

However, one section of the podcast stuck out. It was when Stephen A. Smith delved into a personal discussion with the boxing legend. Moreover, the conversation revolved around an intriguing topic: whether Tyson permitted his children to use profanity in front of him. However, what followed this was a candid exchange that led to Smith opening up to Tyson about a deeply personal matter – the passing of his mother. Now, ‘Iron Mike’ was born in the violent and brutal streets of Brooklyn, so he was exposed to expletives and violence since his childhood. Stephen A. Smith opens up to Mike Tyson about his mother’s demise

During a segment of the podcast, Smith posed a question to boxing legend Mike Tyson regarding his children’s language habits. Tyson replied, “Listen, I don’t mind them doing whatever they want.” However, ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ emphasized that his kids have still refrained from using such words in his presence. Smith emphasized that he would personally mind if his own children resorted to foul language.

In response, Tyson revealed that while he curses frequently, his children have never followed in his footsteps in terms of using abusive language. Smith then shared a personal anecdote, opening up about the passing of his mother at the age of 49 on June 1st, 2017. He admitted that throughout his life, his mother had only heard him utter a single curse word.

“My mom heard me curse once in my entire life and it was one I was cussing out my sister, and I didn’t know my mother was behind me. That’s the only time my mother ever heard me curse. Cuz it was understood, ‘that’s mama you don’t let her hear you talking like that’. And my mother wasn’t having it”
