Ryan Garcia may finally be getting a hold of himself. The last few weeks saw him post messages and clips that deeply concerned the boxing community. So much so that a few even questioned whether he was fit enough to pursue the title fight with Devin Haney next month. But off late, many could heave a sigh of relief as some of his training videos emerged. They coincide simultaneously with a reduction in the hair-raising tweets and posts.
However, ‘KingRy’, as it appears, shows no signs of relenting on his views regarding subjects with a broad reach and footprint. He joined the team behind the popular podcast ‘Full Send Podcast’ in their latest episode. Needless to say, the discussion delved into hot topics such as the state of his mental health. As the show neared its conclusion, the conversation veered towards more esoteric subjects, including artificial intelligence. Many fans, however, might find what he espoused at odds with what Elon Musk said about AI.

Steiny asked what he thought about AI. The former interim lightweight champion said that he had spent some money on AI robotics. Steiny continued, “Elon said, like, in 2029 that they’re going to be smarter than all humans. What do you….do you have any thoughts on that?” Garcia replied that since humans are the ones who brought around the technology, there’s no way the latter could ever outsmart the makers.

“I don’t think they ever be smarter than humans because humans created them; how can you be smarter than who created you?” said Ryan Garcia. Nelk founder Kyle Forgeard mentioned how some of the artificial intelligence that is currently available reportedly displays signs of higher intelligence than humans.
It still didn’t bother Garcia. He stated that even then, humans will find a way to outwit AI.
AI on the Ropes
He said, “We’ll figure it out how to updo them, guaranteed. Because humans always know how to get better, get more evolved. Yeah, the AI robots could be smarter, but sh*t humans, we’re badass. Look what the f**k we created. Don’t underestimate what the f**k we know how to do too.”
It was actually futurist Ray Kurzweil who, while speaking at Joe Rogan‘s podcast, famously quoted. He said, “We’re not quite there, but we will be there, and by 2029 it will match any person.”
Subsequently, Elon Musk reposted the footage through his X/Twitter handle: “AI will probably be smarter than any single human next year. By 2029, AI is probably smarter than all humans combined.”

Ryan Garcia will meet Devin Haney on April 20 at the Barclays Center in New York. They will fight for the latter’s light welterweight title. Just when the hype around the fight started gaining traction, news of Garcia’s online message broke through the headlines. So much so that there are even reports of the WBC president having a discussion with the New York Athletic Commission on Garcia’s mental health.
The Haney-Garcia fight is what everyone wants to see. The last thing any fan wants to see is the fight caving in at the altar for one reason or another.
