Ryan Garcia Reacts to Devin Haney’s Problem With Their Fight

Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney know each other from their amateur days. Reportedly, the two seem to have fought each other six times, with the wins split equally. Yet, while he is all set for one of the most pivotal clashes in his career, twenty-four-year-old Garcia, to all intents and purposes, keeps the doors open that will keep him steady on the path to boxing’s superstardom.
On Saturday night, Ryan Garcia will meet archrival Gervonta Davis to settle one of the sport’s longtime disputes. By all means, the twenty-eight-year-old Baltimorean is one demanding customer willing to raise difficult questions on the Californian’s face. The latter, on the hand, is exuding confidence, as the pre-fight press conference evinced.

At the rope’s other end, Devin Haney has a daunting task awaiting him on May 20. He would face the masterly Vasiliy Lomachenko at MGM Grand Arena to defend his Lightweight titles. A clear favorite to win, there are talks of Haney moving up to 140 lbs. As the reigning Lightweight champion, there are hardly any more summits for him to conquer.
TalkSPORT’s boxing editor Michael Benson shared a tweet that will give a shot in the arm to a fight many fans would love to watch. Already been viewed by nearly 300k, the message on the tweet reads, “Ryan Garcia welcoming a fight vs. Devin Haney after Gervonta Davis on Instagram today….”

It had a screenshot taken from Ryan Garcia’s Instagram page containing Devin Haney’s statement. ‘The Dream’ said, “If Ryan was to win, we can possibly get it on at 140. Obviously, the world knows I have trouble making 135. Maybe we can do it at 140 or even 135. No rehydration (clause). I never do rehydration (clauses).” Garcia, in turn, responded, “Thank you, Devin. I’ll take that offer after I handle business.”
If the duo agrees and fights per what Haney mentioned, then it shouldn’t be a problem. Garcia has, in the past, fought at 140 lbs. Last year’s July fight against Dominican Javier Fortuna is one good example. On YouTuber and social media influencer Bradley Martyn‘s show Bradley Martyn’s Raw Talk, he called out Devin Haney for a seventh fight.

However, many of Garcia’s plans depend on how he fares against Gervonta Davis on April 22. While a defeat would raise many question marks, a victory will surely pave the way to other big fights to help the young boxer establish an everlasting legacy.
