Shakur Stevenson Promises a “Murder Scene,” Teases Next Fight Date and Location

Up until a few days ago, Shakur Stevenson seemed to be in limbo, unable to find an opponent. However, that seems to have changed as he hopped on social media to tease his next fight date and location. Previously, the undefeated boxer was making the headlines for potentially replacing Ryan Garcia against Devin Haney.
Garcia has been facing challenges of his own making following his bizarre statements on X (formerly Twitter), which raised concerns about his July 20 fight. However, Bill Haney has clarified that he and his son are focused on Garcia. So, where does this leave Stevenson? As per his tweet on X today, wishing for a brutal affair.

After months of speculation about Stevenson’s next opponent, the Newark native claimed his next fight would be in his hometown on the slated date of July 6. He wrote, “July 6th Newark [New Jersey] be there tune in… It’s [going to] be a murder scene.” Moreover, after Stevenson’s last dance in the square circle, he has been under heavy fire because of what people claim was a lackluster performance.

So, addressing all the criticism thrown against him, Stevenson wrote, “Whoever it is gotta take real punishment because of yall.” With this statement, it’s a bit unclear whether Stevenson knows who he will face next. Meanwhile, Oscar De La Hoya has suggested a name for Stevenson to take on next.

Undefeated boxer might be Stevenson’s next opponent
William Zepeda is one of the best fighters in De La Hoya’s stable. More importantly, he is undefeated and has fought more opponents than Shakur Stevenson. What’s more, on March 16, Zepeda defeated Maxi Hughes via fourth-round stoppage, showcasing his impressive abilities.

However, De La Hoya knew all about Zepeda’s skills. So, even before Zepeda’s fight, De La Hoya proposed a fight between Stevenson and Zepeda on social media. He claimed, “Shakur, you said nobody wants to fight you. Well, check out William Zepeda on Saturday night on DZAN. He is begging me to fight you.”

With that said, Shakur Stevenson has finally found an opponent to enter the ring against him and fans are eager to see his redemption arc.
