“So Shakur Clout Chasing”: Fans Left Confused as Devin Haney’s Father and Bob Arum Discuss Options Post ‘Publicity Stunt’

The undisputed champion, Devin Haney, last fought 3 weeks ago against Vasiliy Lomachenko. Although the decision in favor of Haney was controversial, he remains the most desired fighter in the division. Post the bout, ‘The Dream’ hinted at a potential move up in weight but also kept alive certain matchups in the Lightweight division including Shakur Stevenson. Meanwhile, Stevenson was present in the ring to witness his name being taken by the champion and is eager to face him.

Stevenson also pointed out that Bob Arum, Haney’s manager, wants him to fight Stevenson next. Not to mention, ‘Sugar’ Shakur Stevenson and Haney were both present at a party and the lightweight prospect seized the opportunity to call out Haney to “sign the contract.” However, the same did not sit well with Haney as he considered it to be an act of “clout chasing,” since there is no contract in place for the fight yet. Similarly, Haney’s father and trainer, Bill Haney met Arum over lunch to discuss the future of Haney. Additionally, he also shaded at Stevenson by shutting down any rumors of having a contract in existence and made it clear that “nothing is on the table.” Witnessing the same, the fans started scratching their heads over the inconsistency between the camps.

Shakur Stevenson is accused of garnering attention

The off-court drama escalated when Stevenson had a message board for Haney at a party where both of them were present. The board stated, “Sign the contract,” to which Haney had a hostile response. He stated, “Clown sh*t.. Bob.. JPrince & I don’t know wtf he talking bout.. just clout chasing. If it was a contract then we would go into purse bid because he’s my mandatory. When he really wanna fight tell his promoter. Until then.. get off my d*ck”

Haney’s father, Bill Haney, had a similar accusation for Stevenson but did not name him. In an Instagram story, he shared a video of him and Arum discussing the future plans for Haney. It also stated, “Great meeting today, nothing on the table yet. If you heard different it is a publicly stunt.” 

One fan with the username Kut Throat Boxing made a bold accusation. He stated, “So no fights are lined up as of yet, so Shakur clout chasing?”

On the contrary, user Efu Skywalker had hostile words for the other side. He stated, “Is he going to keep ducking shakur?”

On similar lines, fan Fatttz2x stated, “@Realdevinhane quit running from @ShakurStevenson everybody kno u can’t fw him n that’s why”

A fan named Adil knew who the shade was thrown at and briefly stated, “SHAKUR”
