A week after declaring that Canelo Alvarez did not interest him, Terence Crawford announced he would potentially fight Alvarez given the fight took place at a Catchweight. While Crawford weighed in at 146¾ lbs in his last bout against Errol Spence Jr., Alvarez weighed in at 166¾ lbs against John Ryder in May. The fact that Alvarez weighed 20 lbs more than Crawford initially failed to spark interest in ‘Bud’ for a potential fight. In his opinion, Jermell Charlo was rather a “meaningful fight” and had “more on the table“.

However, in his latest appearance on The Breakfast Club, the 40-0 boxer named the weight where he could potentially face Alvarez. According to the 35-year-old who wants to “retire from boxing before I let boxing retire me“, should Canelo wish to fight him, the Mexican boxer must come closer to the Middleweight at least.

In a recent interview with TMZ, Crawford said that because of the size factor, he would not fight Canelo. “Canelo really don’t interest me because of the size factor. You don’t know what weight [Canelo’s] fighting at when he fighting,” Crawford said. While a part of the boxing community suggested he fought Alvarez, Crawford declared, “I would definitely choose Jermell Charlo. It’s a meaningful fight. It’s more history.” On the other hand, after Crawford beat Spence Jr., Alvarez called Crawford a great fighter who was too good for ‘The Truth’ to tackle. In the wake of Alvarez’s comment, Crawford finally suggested a Catchweight for the two to meet.

Well, you know what I mean, catchweight. We can do something at a catchweight. Probably like 160 or something. 158-60, that would be cool,” ‘Bud’ told his interviewers on The Breakfast Club. However, Crawford whose name has made the list of Mayweather and other greats, emphasized he would first rematch Spence Jr. since it is an obligation in his contract.
