It’s common knowledge that Devin Haney and Shakur Stevenson are the farthest thing from being friends. Some time ago, the fighters exchanged verbal jabs with each other over X (formerly known as Twitter). The months-long exchange yielded in Haney offering Stevenson a contract that outlined a miniscule payout of 25% for Stevenson. Understandably, the bout did not happen, and fans were left high and dry. In a recent interview, ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley gave his two thoughts on the matter.
Devin Haney boasts numerous titles and maintains an undefeated record of 30-0. Conversely, Shakur Stevenson also boasts significant accomplishments and carries an unblemished record of 20-0. A bout between the two made a lot of sense, but the negotiations failed to progress. Devin Haney will now go to fight Regis Progias at 140 lbs, leaving Shakur to find another opponent in the lightweight division. What could have gone wrong? In an interview with ‘The Art of Dialogue,’ Shane Mosley gives a definitive reason alongside predicting the outcome between the two boxers.

Shane Mosley on Devin Haney vs. Shakur Stevenson
Mosley is no stranger to the world of boxing. With his legendary career in the ring, he’s got all the tools to make a spot-on prediction. But before predicting the outcome of Devin Haney vs. Shakur, he shared his views on why the bout fell apart. He stated, “That means he don’t wanna fight. Come on man, stop it. You know what type of fighter he is. That’s what you do when you don’t want to fight somebody.”
Mosley also mentioned a balanced figure like 60%-40% would be the fair choice for the fight.

Coming to the prediction, Mosley said, “I actually don’t know. My mind says Shakur probably wins, but it could be hard for Shakur.” He highlighted that Shakur might face a challenge due to Haney’s height, and long-range could also become an issue for Shakur. But is Haney willing to back down?
Even with Mosley in Stevenson’s corner, Haney is not buying into any hype about Stevenson taking him down. So, he is sticking to his original 25% offer while claiming it’s fair enough.
