After Gervonta Davis handed Ryan Garcia his first professional defeat, CEO of Mayweather Promotions Leonard Ellerbe broke his silence on Oscar De La Hoya being absent at ‘Tank’ vs. ‘KingRy’. Ahead of the bout on the 22nd of April, countering De La Hoya’s claim of ‘Tank’s’ team being “worried“, Ellerbe stated they believed in ‘Tank’ “thousand percent“. In addition, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions confidently claimed how ‘Tank’ would KO Garcia when the duo stepped into the ring.

Following Garcia vs. Davis, Ellerbe reiterated De La Hoya’s lack of faith quoting the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions himself. While Mayweather and Ellerbe showed up for ‘Tank’ Davis, Oscar De La Hoya was absent at the match inside the T-Mobile Arena. This led Ryan Garcia to tackle the press all by himself after the fight. Here’s what Ellerbe had to say about the incident.

Ahead of the fight, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions stated he believed that the winner of the fight will be the new “king of the sport“. In addition, by citing “catchweight“, “rehydration clauses“, and “late afternoon weigh-ins“, De La Hoya questioned whether or not ‘Tank’s’ team was ready for the fight. He even went to the extent of declaring, “When you’re a fighter, nothing feels worse than your team not believing in you.”

After Garcia’s first pro defeat, hence, Ellerbe took to Twitter and retweeted a photo of Ryan Garcia from his post-fight conference while alluding to De La Hoya. “There is nothing worse then [than] when a fighters team doesn’t believe in them. Quote from the presser,” his tweet read. Ahead of the bout, Ellerbe also branded Mayweather Promotions as the “A-side” and pointed out how Floyd Mayweather Jr. beat De La Hoya’s fighters from Golden Boy Promotions.

We believe in Tank 1000 percent. 1000 percent! We’ve been the A-side in this situation, and that’s how the A-side carries itself. You’ve been asleep under the f***ing wheel for many, many years. That’s exactly why we took all your fighters, and Floyd beat them all,” declared Ellerbe.
