Speaking to an interviewer, Jeff Mayweather first shared about watching the replay of Anthony Joshua-Robert Helenius‘s bout. The former champion said he never expected Robert Helenius to come with anything special in the fight with Joshua. Especially after Deontay Wilder destroyed him in the first round.

So when asked whether it surprised him to watch the Briton struggle till the seventh round to deliver the coup de grâce, Mayweather replied, “Um, yeah, yeah, about that, um, it could have, it should have [come] earlier, but at the same time, I mean, I know that when you’re talking about um Wilder and Joshua in terms of punching power, they are not even close.

A few minutes later, the interviewer said Anthony Joshua has many detractors. The knockout victory over ‘The Nordic Nightmare’ was impressive. However, many raised concerns that he appeared a bit weak-kneed and apprehensive. He is no longer what he used to be. Hence, given his current state, the interviewer asked whether the idea of Joshua participating in a slugfest against one of the hardest punchers sounded appealing.

So talking about the match per se, Mayweather explained his preference for Wilder to win if the fight occurs. In all probability, the clash might face an early stoppage. However, if Joshua musters himself and puts up a fight, as he should be doing, he could last much longer in the contest.
