Tony Bellew Rips ‘Classless’ Deontay Wilder: “He Doesn’t Know What He’s Doing”

It’s been over a year since Deontay Wilder has suffered his maiden pro defeat and has lost the WBC crown To Tyson Fury. However, boxing pundits continue to criticise ‘The Bronze Bomber’. With several justifications for his loss and no official reports on return, Wilder has already lost his relevancy.
Meanwhile, his WBC title slot is also on the brink of collapse as Tyson Fury is rumored to face Anthony Joshua in a massive title unification battle. That said, Tony Bellew has recently connected with Talk Sport to talk about Fury vs Joshua. But he also talked about Tyson Fury’s last opponent, Deontay Wilder, and analysed the performance he displayed.
“It’s all well and good that Deontay Wilder was getting close to Tyson Fury and swinging big bombs. But listen, you could’ve stuck a first-class stamp on them and they would’ve still been late getting there because of the style that he throws them with,” told Bellew.

Despite Wilder’s prowess in the first fight, Bellew didn’t give Wilder credit. Instead, he ridiculed his raw power and claimed that he was out of control. It was quite harsh of a statement coming from Bellew.
“There’s telegraphing punches and then there’s skimming the lights above the ring – that’s what Deontay Wilder was doing. His punches were that wild and that crude. He was out of control.”
Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury was a perfect fight specimen
As Anthony Joshua is walking closer to facing Tyson Fury, he can take a lot of blueprints from the Wilder fight. Wilder drooped Fury in their first fight and almost attained victory. Referring to that, Tony Bellew compared him with Mike Tyson. But the former Brit pugilist still pointed out the flaws in Wilder’s game.
“He may have crazy power and he might be the biggest punching heavyweight since Mike Tyson, but he has no class, and he has no skill-set to match that power. So it’s like a bull in a china shop. He doesn’t know what he’s doing,” said Bellew.

He added, “He can’t set his attacks up, his jab was just useless in the fight, he didn’t know what to do. Even when he had Tyson Fury down and out [in their first bout] he couldn’t finish him.”
Meanwhile, Deontay Wilder is just a win away from silencing his critics. After a dominant run of 42 wins with 41 KOs, Wilder has only one loss in his record. He is still a top-rated boxer, and on registering a successful return, he can demand another title shot ahead.
