After his recent win over Richard Commey, Vasyl Lomachenko can again expect a shot at the lightweight word titles. The former champion has earned the WBO Interim strap and has expressed interest in the undisputed lightweight title fights. It means Lomachenko can face any of the current 135 lbs world champions.
It puts WBA lightweight champion, Gervonta Davis, on his radar. However, Lomachenko has refused to credit ‘Tank’ as an A-lister. Despite being an absolute knockout artist and an undefeated three-division champion, Davis doesn’t seem to have earned Lomachenko’s respect.
ES News could derive Lomachenko’s opinion on Gervonta Davis where he reportedly said, “Tank wasn’t a good fighter.”

Gervonta Davis’ WBA lightweight title defense against Isaac Cruz has been looked down upon by several people. While Davis struggled to dominate Cruz and ended up earning a decision, people ridiculed his chances against the best champions of the 135 lbs division. It seems Vasyl Lomachenko also falls in that bracket.
The current statements from Lomachenko verify he may not be interested in locking horns against Davis. However, the lightweight division has a lot more to offer and we can see ‘The Matrix’ return in 2022 with a blockbuster matchup on board.

Hailing from the Mayweather Promotions, Gervonta Davis is undoubtedly a top-tier name and can offer a world champion status to his lightweight rivals. However, Lomachenko might be eyeing four belts at once and has desired to battle George Kambosos Jr, ahead. Newly crowned champion, Kambosos Jr. vanquished Teofimo Lopez to grab the 135 lbs belts.
He has garnered call-outs from Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia since then. Now, Vasyl Lomachenko is also keen to challenge. The Ukrainian star is 16-2 as a professional boxer and is capable of jumping into other weight classes.
