On Sunday night, Gervonta Davis amassed wide attention with his stellar win over Isaac Cruz. Davis was a true favorite to win the fight, and he fared just the way he was supposed to. Also, with this win, ‘Tank’ impressed Floyd Mayweather. Hence, in the post-fight presser, ‘TBE’ shared some sublime words for his protege.
‘Money’ also opened up on some geography lessons in this press conference, eventually leaving ‘Tank’ confused. Mayweather said, “‘Tank’ really would have lost the fight.”
“And of course, we’re, it’s California. This is Mexico. So I mean he’s fighting, I mean if the real fight in Mexico…Texas, and California is like fighting in Mexico, basically. But Cruz is a tough competitor.”

Davis sat right next to Mayweather and his epic reaction left the fans in splits.
‘Tank’ Davis, with a win over Cruz, advanced to 26 wins in total. The famous knockout artist looked for a finish in this fight as well. However, ‘Pitbull’ didn’t let Davis dictate the pace of the fight. Instead, he responded with some good counter-attacks to keep ‘Tank’ challenged.

Gervonta Davis knew what he had to do to retain his belt. He maintained his punching accuracy, scored some vital points, and ended up defending his WBA ‘regular’ lightweight title.
Gervonta Davis vs Isaac Cruz – A look at the punch stats
Compubox revealed the punch stats between Davis and Cruz. After a blistering exchange between these two, Davis had a certain edge in power, punches, jabs, and total body punches.

Davis, a southpaw, had an injured left hand. Regardless of that, he ended up landing 40% power punches on his adversary. Also, ‘Tank’ kept an active jab in the initial rounds, landing 11% of those shots.
