Devin Haney and JoJo Diaz are now hours away from going head-to-head in a 12-round battle for the WBC lightweight world title. Diaz could possibly prove to be the 23-year-old’s toughest challenge to date and Haney knows this very well. Naturally, there is a fair level of tension between the corners as everything is at stake here for both fighters.

The tensions escalated to a whole new level yesterday as Devin Haney and Diaz faced off one final time before their final clash on Saturday night. At the press conference, both corners seemed more or less respectful of each other; however, things were definitely different behind the curtains.

A new pre-fight video uploaded on Devin Haney’s official YouTube channel shows a different side to the Diaz-Haney equation. At one point, a Haney cornerman or teammate got into a pretty one-sided altercation with Diaz’s team.

You a punk, shut your b***h a** up. Yeah, f**k you, f**k you, I ain’t no wannabe. JoJo Diaz gon’ get f***ed up. Yeah, he gon’ get his a** whooped. This is as big as you go, this is as far as you go. Lord Devin Haney, the king!” said Haney’s teammate.

Is Devin Haney underestimating JoJo Diaz?

In a recent pre-fight interview, Devin Haney shared his outlook on the current fight at hand and also went on to talk about what lies ahead. He started off by sharing a very simple prediction for the fight.

Haney strongly believes that JoJo Diaz will simply run into a big shot. He is now looking to enhance his heavily criticized knockout rate and is confident that Diaz is going to fall victim to his power.

He has mentioned time and time again that he is not overlooking Diaz’s abilities and skills as an elite fighter; however, he is stepping into this fight with the same level of confidence Teofimo Lopez had against George Kambosos Jr.

Haney is so confident in his abilities that even before the Diaz fight on Saturday night, he has already been working towards setting up a mega undisputed title clash with the newly crowned Kambosos Jr. The 23-year-old believes that is the only way to silence the critics and prove to the world that he is indeed the best in the lightweight division.

On the other hand, Joseph Diaz is focused on snatching everything away from Haney. He is looking to close the year by causing one of the biggest upsets of the year.

Do you think Devin Haney is looking too far ahead and is he underestimating JoJo Diaz, a 2012 Olympian?
