Although Jermall Charlo is yet to return to the ring following a lay-off of over two years, he already has plans for 2024. The WBC Middleweight title holder, who would square off against Jose Benavidez Jr. on the 25th of November, feels he needs to be more active. As a result, he already has several fights on his mind. While it remains to be seen how Jermall will perform against Benavidez Jr. since his last title defense against Juan Macias Montiel in 2021, the 33-year-old wants to go up against boxers who have remained highly active.

On that note, in the latest interview with Fight Hub TV, besides opening up about the Benavidez fight, Charlo disclosed his New Year’s resolution. According to his statement, apart from “the big fights,” he is open to facing YouTubers in the ring.

After a lengthy lay-off, Charlo plans to at least fight thrice in 2024. In his opinion, the winner of David Benavidez vs. Demetrius Andrade fight and Canelo Alvarez, who just beat his twin brother and failed to impress Eddie Hearn, are the two big fights that ‘Hit Man’ can currently think of. In addition, while he did not mention a specific name, he displayed his interest in YouTubers.

I wanna be a lot more active next year. Maybe take on two to three fights. By next year, get my groundwork back going. Stay in the gym and stay focused,” said Charlo. “Hopefully, I can land one of those big fights that you guys wanna see. Maybe the winner out of the main event [Benavidez vs. Andrade], or, maybe Canelo, you know. Who knows? YouTubers coming up. Whatever. I don’t care. I just wanna fight,” he added.

While Charlo plans to have three fights in 2024, his first comeback fight remains the upcoming match against Jose Benavidez. In this context, it is worth mentioning that Jermall recently explained that the Jose fight was personal to him.

Jermall plans to KO Benavidez “cold”

Recently, Jose Benavidez ridiculed Jermall’s mental health issues due to which he was inactive. As a result, wounded by Benavidez’s words, Charlo wants to teach the former a lesson. In his opinion, while Jose is “amping the fight up,” he has taken the same seriously and personally. “Benavidez is just one of those guys who has to make a name for himself. Of course, talking s**t to me would be the best thing you can do because you’re only amping the fight up,” said Charlo.
