Right after his bout with Ryan Garcia on the 22nd of April, Gervonta Davis avoided jail time and Judge Althea M Handy sentenced the boxer to 90 days of home arrest followed by three years of probation. However, per the latest updates, Gervonta Davis will now serve the remainder of his sentence in jail. In 2020, accompanied by two passengers, and identified by eyewitnesses, Gervonta Davis drove a Lamborghini Urus SUV and allegedly knocked a 2004 Toyota Solara after running a red light.
Later it was even discovered that Davis drove with a revoked license on the night of his accident. Other than property damage, the accident injured a pregnant woman named Jayir Smith. As per Smith’s statements, Davis “got his things and left,” while she begged for help after the accident. The statements by Smith led Judge Melissa M Phinn to reject Davis a “60 days of unsupervised home confinement“. However, within only two weeks of his bout against Garcia, Davis received three months of house arrest.

Reportedly, on account of violating house arrest, Gervonta Davis will now serve the remainder of his sentence in jail. As reported by The Baltimore Banner, Sheriff Sam Cogen corroborated Davis being taken into custody after an impromptu court hearing. Attorney Michael Tomko has confirmed the same. Looks like, Davis could not avoid jail despite receiving house arrest. In this context, it is worth mentioning that no one from ‘Tank’s’ team has yet made any statements regarding the 28-year-old now going to jail.

Following the victory against Ryan Garcia, Gervonta Davis became 29-0-0 in professional boxing. However, while now Garcia makes his return to 140 lbs, Davis has to stay away from boxing for a while. Additionally, Davis still has to complete 200 hours of community service and be present at a panel. Given all the legal problems, it is fair to say that it will take Davis some time to return to the ring.
