Former two-time world Heavyweight champion Mike Tyson is one of the most iconic names in the world of boxing. During his prime, he was one of the highest-paid boxers in the world. This, in turn, spiraled into an exorbitant lifestyle and reckless spending. The bad money management combined with managers who reportedly pushed him over forced Tyson to file for bankruptcy. Meanwhile, in an old interview, Tyson opened up about the spending habits and lifestyle that dwindled his once towering fortunes.

Tyson was once in an interview with journalist Graham Bensinger for In Depth with Graham Bensinger. In conversation, Bensinger stressed the unfavorable management of Tyson’s assets and the amount of money he spent on clothes, jewelry, his house, and exotic animals. Bensinger further asked, “To what extend did, or did you think, that the money would never run out?”

Tyson responded by mentioning that he lived an uncontrolled life at that time. Moreover, he added that he found it hard to fathom the numbers that were put in front of him. Additionally, Graham asked Tyson, “Does it seem a lot to you now?”

In response, Tyson said, “With my ex-life, this is how I lived my life. That’s my addictive personality. You know that’s a lot of things, my ego, so many other things. That stems from, for me, you know being poor and not having anything. For being bitter, angry, being in prison.” Tyson even called his personality a “twin sword” and mentioned that it helped him earn the money in the first place.

Fans extend their support to Mike Tyson

A snippet from the interview was recently reshared on social media. And a lot of fans were happy to see Tyson’s growth as a person. In fact, a lot of them took to the comments to share their thoughts about the same.

Steven Mitchell justified Tyson’s old lifestyle, by saying, “YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE. AND HE DID THAT AT THAT TIME YOU LIVE AND LEARN OVER THE YEARS. NOW LESS IS MORE FOR HIM!!!!!!”

Meanwhile, many fans expressed their admiration for Tyson. David Mclerran said, “I hope Mike knows how much people really do love him. I routed for him then and I still do today.”

Similarly, Alan McDaniel mentioned, “I have a lot of respect for this man that is before us today.”

In the same vein, Michael John commended Tyson for his honesty. He said, “Tyson is one word.: HONEST. He realized his shortcomings and became a much better man. Bravo.”

And, Tny Jst added, “Proves when you get older Life is more important than money. He went through hell and back. And again.”
