A look into the boxing career of Zayn Malik

In an interview with Dailystar back in 2013, Malik revealed that he trained in boxing before auditioning for the X-factor in 2010. Moreover, he even revealed his interest in pursuing the sport full-time. ” I did boxing from when I was 15 to 17. I love it and I’ve started training again now on the side, even though we don’t get much time off for exercise. I’m trying to eat healthier so I can bulk up. I’d love to pursue it properly one day.” He said.

During this interview, Malik was 20 years old and unsure of his career in life. However, following the success he and his bandmates would get after their X-factor run would drastically alter his career path. Now, with millions of dollars coming in through his music career, Malik wisely decided to leave boxing and continue to ride on the success of his music.

Why did One direction split up?

Back in 2015, after launching five albums and four world tours together, the band was on top of the music industry. However, Malik would then leave the band, taking a hiatus. This eventually promoted the others to pursue solo careers as well, with each going their separate ways.

While it’s hard to pinpoint why the band broke up, it could be attributed to their exhausting schedule. Moreover, popular members like Styles and Malik saw the opportunity to capitalize on their popularity with them now, not sharing revenue with other members. Although the fans are still hoping to see the boy band in action one last time. It is highly unlikely given the current relationships between them.

What did you think about Malik once wanting to pursue boxing? Let us know in the comments.
