When it comes to the sport of boxing Floyd Mayweather, Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson could all make the case for being the best ever. However, pure fighting involving kicks and grappling is another ball game altogether in which traditional boxers struggle. However, former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier thinks that the best fighter in the world is a boxer.

Daniel Cormier names his top 5 fighters of all time

In an interview with ESPN, Cormier presented his top 5 fighters of all time. Despite the list including MMA fighters, the top spot was given to none other than Floyd Mayweather, followed by former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.

In third place was boxing legend, Muhammad Ali, with former UFC welterweight champion George St.Pierre in fourth place and double champ Amanda Nunes taking fifth place. However, the fans didn’t seem to agree with the UFC Hall of Famer as they shredded his list into pieces.

Fans call out Daniel Cormier’s top 5 list, including Floyd Mayweather and Muhammad Ali

One fan did not understand why former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones was not on the list. “No Jon Jones. Even his Lover Khabib has Jon as top 5 ever.” He wrote. Another fan called Cormier a casual fan for making this list. “DC sounds like a casual” he wrote. Moreover, one fan doubled down on the list calling it ridiculous. “What a ridiculous list. Dude has been hit in the head too many times,” he wrote. One fan stated that Cormier did not include Jones despite losing to him twice in the Octagon. “He lost twice against and still hasn’t learned the lesson lol.” He wrote.

A fan also claimed that ‘DC’ was mad at Jones and former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic after losing to them. “He still mad at Bones, Still mad at Stipe,” he wrote. Lastly, one fan stated that even a Hall of Famer like Cormier could sometimes be mistaken. “Even a HOFer can be mistaken. ….” he wrote.

The fans felt that Cormier’s list was based on a lot of personal bias, with Nurmagomedov being his teammate while Jones was his fiercest rival. However, it could be argued that all the athletes on the list could still be contenders for the title of the greatest, given their resumes and accomplishments in their sports.

What did you think about Cormier’s list? Let us know in the comments.
