The high-class trilogy between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier ended in the most tragic fashion. The fight between the two ended after the first round itself because the Irishman broke his ankle. Many expected this fight to be a sheer war and a huge chunk of fans believed McGregor would turn things around. However, he failed to do so.
Despite ending up on the losing vertical, McGregor still showcased some sublime striking before Poirier took him to the canvas. As a result, ‘The Diamond’ turned the tide in his favor and earned the bragging rights in the trilogy.

This is not the first time ‘The Problem Child’ has mocked ‘The Notorious’. In the past, too, he hasn’t left a single opportunity to get onto the Irishman’s nerves.

McGregor entered his trilogy against Poirier with some astonishing confidence. In fact, he held control of the octagon in the initial few minutes of the fight. He landed some slick kicks and looked primed for war.

But ‘The Diamond’ had an upper hand with his ground and pound game, and this didn’t go well for the Irishman. With five seconds left for the end of round one, McGregor voluntarily went down to the canvas. Hence, it was evident that he couldn’t fight more.

‘The Notorious’ put in a tremendous amount of hard work for his trilogy war against Poirier, yet he lost. He was highly optimistic about claiming a win in this fight and advancing to a championship match.
However, as McGregor’s injury seems serious, he might have to dedicate an extensive amount of time to recover from the same. That said, the Irishman should undoubtedly focus on recovering well and quickly. Once he recovers, he should look ahead to stage another massive return. Perhaps against Jake Paul?
