Josh Warrington is a popular British featherweight division boxer, who takes his crafts seriously. Previously he had a bone to pick with against Youtuber turned boxer Jake Paul as he criticized ‘the Problem Child’ getting a boxing license. His career had been smooth sailing until he met Mauricio Lara who ended his undefeated record as the boxer.

Since then he has tasted another defeat this time at the hands of Mexican boxer, Luis Alberto Lopez. And now he has gotten another shot at becoming the champion as he is going to face Leigh Wood this Autumn. Moreover, he has some things to say about the upcoming bout as he remains optimistic.

Josh Warrington full to the brim with confidence

Leigh Wood and Warrington will be clashing at the Utilitia Arena Sheffield on October 7th. Wood’s WBA Featherweight World Title will be on the line as the top dogs of Britain’s featherweight division will go face-to-face. Wood snatched the title off of Lara’s hands earlier this year. Now ‘The Leeds Warrior’ appears to be pumped up about a shot at becoming the champion for the third time in his career.

As the anticipation of the bout builds up, Warrington took to Instagram to state his intentions for the bout. Warrington claimed that he will be fighting to get back on top once again on a fated night.

He stated that he intends to  become a 3× World champion. He even wrote, “TIME TO GET BACK ON TOP!” in the caption of the post. The former champion remains adamant about being the number one featherweight boxer. He needs to prove his mettle in the bout and made his intentions of showcasing his worth clear as he prepares to enter the ring later this year.

What does Wood have to say about the matchup?

The Nottingham native displayed an impressive performance as he defeated the hard-hitting boxer Lara in their recent 12-round match-up. Wood showed off his impressive skills and won the bout via unanimous decision. Speaking on the upcoming bout, Wood states that he is “extremely excited for October 7”. He further stated, “In terms of the followings we’ve got, the football clubs and the cities, this is arguably the biggest British rivalry in the sport.”

He complimented Warrington’s past record and stated that he “has some great wins on his record.” Wood stated that the Leed’s boxer would be prepared for the match-up. According to Woods, Warrington has “never really been in a boring fight – but neither have I.”

The boxer thinks that the fight will “go down in British history.” He stated that he “needs to win” the bout so that he can “look back on with pride and soak up all the good memories.”

Though the odds are definitely stacked against Warrington, with a lot of fans doubting him. However, the two times champion remains confident in his chances and has made some bold claims about the bout.
