Disneyâ€s ‘Epic†entry into the gaming front 

It all started the day Bob Iger returned to the helm as the CEO of Disney back in 2022. He incubated in his mind the idea of capitalizing on the gaming market. Thus, immediately after taking up responsibilities, Iger met with a couple of higher ups of the company to discuss with them his vision, backed by statistics and demographics. Thankfully, he was able to convince the company about the boost the gaming market is generating at the moment. 

Speaking about how he envisioned the plan, Iger stated, “When I saw Gen Z and Gen Alpha and even millennials, and I saw the amount of time they were spending in terms of their total media screen time on video games, it was stunning to me, equal to what they spend on TV and movies… And the conclusion I reached was we have to be there, and we have to be there as soon as we possibly can, in a very compelling way.” Surely enough, the $1.5 billion investment materialized and with it, the stocks of Disney saw a significant boost of 11%. 

Although the exact terms and conditions of the deal were not made public, a few pointers can be noted from a report published by Forbes. The report stated that in exchange for the money, Disney would demand a token stake of equity in the company. They also promised Epic Games about expanding and exploring digital worlds based on exclusive intellectual properties from Disney. 

With the deal now done, the next question is – Is the deal a smart move for Disney?

Disney & Epic Games: An intelligent move? 

The flagship product of Epic Games, Fortnite has over 70 million active users per month. What makes the game more appealing are the IPs that help users use skins as per their choice in the game. These skins range from rappers, sports entities, fictional characters, and even entities from the extended universes of Star Wars, Disney, and Marvel. 

However, with the new deal, the two companies can form a persistent metaverse where users can “play, watch, shop, and engage.” Although this might take some time to materialize, game maps are a possibility that would have a huge potential in the long term. 

Imagine users being able to play in a ‘Pirates of the Caribbean†map or a ‘Toy Story†map. The taste of success has already been there since Fortnite had a similar collaboration with Lego. Users flocked to the game to access the Lego map, which resulted in 2.4 million users playing the game in one month. 

However, the challenge Epic Games has faced is the constant loss of its active users with time. This is an area that can be bolstered with the latest collaboration. The description of the loading screen read, “It’s a whole new world out there”, which sparked a lot of speculation around the ‘Big Bang event’. An official announcement for the ‘Big Bang event’ happened just hours after the leak, and now we know what the countdown is all about. 

In around ten days, the big bang event of Fortnite will kick off. Fans from all around the globe would be able to experience Eminem’s live concert in the game and introduction to his skin and cosmetics on December 2 at 2 p.m. ET or 11 a.m. PT. One of the guys was seen wearing a grey hoodie with grey trousers. The other one was donning a yellow and blue T-shirt along with grey pants. The intensity of the cheering was such that the boy in the colored tee was covering his ears. However, soon after the boys passed, a group of cheerleading girls could be seen celebrating their victory. As we know, the high school Fortnite team came out victorious and earned a prestigious spot in the district to represent their alma mater. The girls were seen holding a stick and performing a cheerleading routine, as everyone seemed to be very proud of the team’s achievement.  This video quickly garnered a lot of views, and fans were quick to react.

All the Changes in Maps and Battle Pass

There is a long list of changes that Fortnite brings to Chapter 4, but with a shorter season (just one month).

• The ‘OG’ Battle Pass

The Battle Pass is named the OG Pass for the season. Parallel to the season, the battle pass is also small, having 50 tiers of throwback rewards.

Also, to cater to the smaller battle pass, the weekly changes and updates introduced in the game will be drastic throughout the season. The makers have aimed to reminisce about various eras of Chapter 1 through all the weekly changes. However, some updates will stay consistent during the month.

The four skins that are available in the battle pass might hit a strong nostalgic chord for all Fortnite veterans: Lil Split, Spectra Knight, Omegarock, and Renegade Lynx. Remember them? 

Many other cosmetic items, like loading screens, Back Blings, gliders, and other standard Fortnite accouterments, are available with the pass. Given the lower overall rewards, the pass still costs 950 V-Bucks, which may deter some players.

However, it’s important to remember that the OG Pass and the upcoming Battle Pass Chapter 5 Season 1 can both be obtained with a one-month for eleven-dollar Fortnite Crew subscription.

Drake was continuously contacting Donald Mustard for details on Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 4, ruining a special day for him!

Donald Mustard is best known for his work on creating the lore for Fortnite. It is only natural that he might get a question or two here and there from fans regarding his game. But sometimes those questions get too much. And they can come at a very wrong time. That is what happened when a hyped-up Drake, who could not even sleep due to his excitement, decided to text Donald to tell him the details of Fortnite’s Chapter 1 Season 4. That event was about to go live the very next day, but Drake could not wait.

Donald was not happy because, at that moment, he was attending his daughter’s dance recital. But Drake kept spamming his inbox with questions.“My amazing daughter starts flossing on stage. It’s perfect. Adorable. And then I get a text. And then another. I started getting spammed. By Drake.” Explains an annoyed Donald on his X post.

Donald Mustard is an incredible writer; he is known for working on games like the Infinity Blade Trilogy and Advent Rising.  Yes, he is the one who penned every crazy detail fans have witnessed during many of this game’s chapters. This recently happened situation has might made him happy at first but there are possibilities to get annoyed very quickly. Here’s hoping, for the sake of Donald, that he does not get such texts and messages from every Fortnite fan out there.

Chapter 4, Season OG, is setting the world on fire

While Donald tells his tale of annoyance, fans everywhere will be enjoying the latest season of this game from November 3 onwards. This season would bring about some exciting new changes to the game. The most important of them is the OG map. Yes, developers have decided to bring back the original Fortnite map to the game.
